Descrição
This study suggests that the present research work aims to check if Clénia follows thePortuguese ́s guidelines of how language is acquired in Portuguese linguisticenvironment compared to Universals guidelines based on language acquisition process.Meanwhile, it meant to be my contribution to the issue of language acquisition processthrough my own experience, and the understanding of how the process of languageacquisition takes place. Therefore, two methods were used in recording the child ́s speech: the analystic andnaturalistic methods. Regarding the former, a researcher may visit individual childrenon a regular basis and record (or videotape a sample of utterances, perhaps one hourevery second weeks over a period of five months. As for the latter one, investigatorswill observe and record the children ́s spontaneous verbal behaviour. One type ofnaturalistic investigation is the so-called diary study, in which a researcher (often aparent) keeps daily notes on the child ́s linguistic progress. Finally, at the age of 36 months of age the child has acquired fifteen consonantscompared to thirteen ones at 30 months old. Then, the research itself has revealed thatthe child phonological system consists of 6 oral vowels and 4 nasal ones at thebeginning of the research. Thus, at the last age the child acquired 9 oral vowels and also4 nasal ones.
